Katalyst777 I get that but here's what I'm trying to do - even with a 6/12 roof the bottom of the trusses don't land on thin inside wall. If you look at the truss design it should land on the inside wall and then extend 8 feet out over the porches on either side. However in my plan, as I have it nouw, the trusses land on the outside supports on the outside of the porches. make sense?

I have Home Designer Suite 2016 not pro... am I going to get anywhere close to this in suite? Another question might be could I open the copy of the file you have edited if you saved it as a "suite" version? would I loose your work? Again thank you!

I'm trying to add my roof to my design and I can't seem to figure it out. I've attached my truss design, it's a scissor design with the vaulted interior 20' wide, it has an additional 8' on each side to account for the porch and a mud room on one side. I've added my plans too in case that's easier. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Chris frame only 2X4 walls.plan

Trying to understand the plate line in the material list view. I have Home Designer Suite 2016. I understand the number is probably in linear feet like the fir stud line but I don't understand the measurement. To make it easier I drew a 2 foot exterior wall. ok it says I need 24 linear feet of 2X6 fir stud. Ok that I get 3 - 8 foot studs = 24 linear feet. But it says I need 6 linear feet of fir plate? it's a 2 foot wall????? Help??? Thanks!
