  1. While I've used Home Designer Suite for many projects, I recently upgraded to Pro to facilitate the design of our new home. Apologies if my search skills are inadequate but I can't seem to find a solution to our exterior wall need. I've been able to access the Define Wall feature and am able to delete and add various layers. However, I can't seem to find the right way to know if I've done this properly. The plan is to build standard 2x6 walls with insulation between the studs. Then we will 'wrap' the exterior of the house with rigid foam board insulation, then furring strips, aligned and screwed into the framing members in the wall behind the foam to create an air gap with the siding nailed to these furring strips. I have been able to define a new wall where I have started by copying the existing exterior -6 wall and have been able to 'insert' foam and furring strips behind the siding. For the strips, I simply added a second layer of fir framing that I defined to be the thickness I wanted. All this seemed to go well and I thought I did what I wanted. However, how do I know I've really accomplished this? When I show a wall built this way in any of the framing views, the second layer of framing doesn't show up. I can see it in various cross section views as a colored layer, but is there a way to know if it incorporated as framed elements that are 16 OC? I don't really care if the outside framing actually lines up with the inside (in fact, I doubt it does). just want to know it's there when I calculate materials and find a way to show it so that I can explain to the builder/architect what I am thinking. Attached is a plan file with my test case. Thanks MHC Test Plan.plan
