Hi, I would like to draw this little bit special dormer: I did not suceed using the dormer because if I make it as wide as it is (311cm) it gets too big and I don't know how to make it shorter. Anyone able to design this or give me a hint? Plan is attached in the Zip file and I'm using Home Designer Pro 2022. Thanks, Oliver PVSol.zip

Ha, found out myself :-) If I define a ceiling finish in the structure dialog of the room, everything looks like it should.

Something seems to be wrong with my roof anyway... if I have a look at the Craftsman Bugalow sample plan it does more or less what I want but I could not find you why. There, everything inside on the second floor looks nice without anything additional.

Hi, I have a problem for which I cannot find a solution in tutorials or help pages and am also stuck with my own ideas. I would like to place a soffit under my half-hip roof. This works where to roof plane is flat but how can I achieve this under the whole roof? Problem is that I cannot freely form the soffit (at leas as far as I know). I placed the soffit in the attic floor and checked to box "Place under roof". This looks good so far: If I extend the soffit the edge is not covered and I cannot create a triangle shaped soffit. Any idea how I could achieve that. And in the end it only needs to look good, I don't care whether it is a soffit or something else. What I want to achieve is a ceiling to cover the roof following it's form. Plan is attached. Best regards, Oliver HouseForum2.zip

Hi David, Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it! I wasn't aware of the "trick" to first have a short floor, build the roof and then increase to height of the room again. And I'm glad I didn't do everything wrong Maybe some background information just in case you're interested: I live in that house which has at the moment only two floors. Now we're thinking of lifting up the roof to be able to have this third floor. And now I need to visualize that. It's located in Switzerland and yes, the exterior walls are indeed as thick as they are drawn as there's a pretty thick layer of insulation to save energy in winter (when heating).

Hi, I'm pretty new to HO but thanks to the huge amount of tutorials and videos I was already able to achieve much of what I wanted. But now I'm stuck with several problems I cannot solve. I have a short third floor below the roof which looks like this: My problems are: - There is a gap between the walls on the floor and the one in the attic - The door is pretty small How can I achieve that it lasts into the attic wall? - There's a gap between the attic walls and the roof - There's a gap in the inner layer of the exterior wall which makes that I see the bricks. I would be very glad if someone could give me some hints how to solve this problems. The plan is attached (and has several other problems, but they are secondary...). Thanks! Oliver House.zip

Hi all, I would like to draw an u-shaped stair with winders. I have read this very helpful tutorial (last section): https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00486/creating-stair-winders.html I have one straight step, 9 winders and 5 straight steps: My problem is now that I need to have this stair with a much smaller gap but this automatically decreases the winders: Is there any possibility to easily achieve that small gap but still have 9 winders? I think I could do it using landings and reshape them as as I need, but this sounds like a lot of work and I'm pretty new to HD. Thanks! Oliver
