I have a dormer that needs to be above the stair railing, however when I manually create the wall, the railing cuts the roof siding wall in half which creates an odd hole in the roof: The interior is fine But I know it's the railing that's causing the issue because if I delete the wall that gets cut after the railing the hole disappears (but then the siding isn't filled in) Any ideas as to how to fix this?

Perfect, thanks Eric

After following these instructions on using Windows to create a screened porch (https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00748/creating-a-screen-porch.html) something happens when I use exterior walls instead of railings to create the screened porch over a walk out basement where the ground just disappears.Screenshots below show the elevation when the walls are exterior walls with "screen windows" and when at least one wall is a railing. With a wall as a "railing": With screens: And as far as I am aware, I cannot create screened porches using a railings wall type so I am not quite sure how to fix this.

Thanks Eric - after fooling with manual roofing all day was able to figure out how to get this room's roof to work inside and outside - but just have one small issue where the interior wall is exposed on the outside at a slant (left corner of picture) but it's also on the inside (so I can't switch it to an exterior wall). I know with Pony walls you can make it half and half but I am not quite sure how to get it so the exterior wall is only for the portion that is visible on this slant. I am not quite sure what to even search for on how to resolve this issue.

It's a to be constructed structure, so I only have the construction documents but here are the portions of the construction doc related to this room: Front Elevation: Side Elevation: Back Elevation of section: Roof Line of the room: Floor Plan of the Room (Upper Level Study): A10 Cross Section (From Back Elevation) A11 Cross Section (From Back Elevation)

Thank you, yes that's exactly what I am looking for -- just not exactly sure how to drop the roof planes in a single section of the room. Currently if I try to lower the roof plane of the gable, it ends up lowering the roof of the entire room. Below is what the automatic roofing is currently drawing. I am assuming I need to somehow split the room so that the first few feet near the front window can be lowered without impacting the rest of the room. Just not really sure how to do that - I have never really done manual roof-lines before and not sure if that's what I need to do or if there's another way.

Thanks Solver -- The thing I am struggling with is how to make that the underside of the roof. I have the roofline currently matching it but I don't know how to bring the wall height on that one side down. Do I have to make each section of that room a different room and then change the ceiling height or something?

Hello, I am trying to figure out how to best replicate this design within Home Designer Pro (2021): So far, I was able to use ceiling planes to create what is basically the "bottom" of the ceiling: But I have no idea how to get it to be solid (e.g. not seeing the attic) so that it looks as close to what it would in real life as possible. I am not sure if there's an easier way to do this outside of ceiling planes but any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Version: Home Designer Pro 2021

Thanks for this -- it ended up being the X Y Z coordinate issue that causes Z Fighting. Out of curiosity, because I couldn't see any of the Z Fighting posts talking about how to reset the X Y Z coordinates -- I ended up using Edit -> Edit Area -> Entire Area (All Floors) in order to drag it to the 0 mark. But this still messed with a few interior walls. Is there an easier way to fix this?

Hello, I just purchased Home Designer Pro 2021 and once I started using the non-free trial version I am getting these weird rendering issues. I opened a support ticket but haven't heard any response and am hoping somebody here might know what's going on. I tried searching but I cannot find any thread about this. Every time I go into 3d views, every single rendering type except for glass house has this issue: The plywood and "Chief Wrap" are randomly displayed on exterior walls (interior walls seem to not be impacted). Additionally, when I move the camera, the areas with the display issue change randomly. Does anyone have any idea what is going on here or how to fix this? My computer more than exceeds the minimum rendering requirements and when I was using Chief Architect free trial it did not have this issue.
