got answer from support. 
my D-size layout page has to be open, then it will send it to that one.
I made my D-size layout page read only on disk to prevent me from messing it up, forces me to do a save as:-)

In Home Designer Pro, whenever I create a new layout it comes in as Arch C-size, and I want Arch D-size.

My drawing sheet set up is D, and I've expanded the layout to be D. Why is it defaulting back to C?

Definitely a sore point for me too.

Thanks for the suggestions.  The only way I got it to display as desired was to make it a rail, all suggestions above did not work for me. The posts display as a square instead of a 2x6, I will just make a note on the plans

Using Home Designer Pro, 2021

I am trying to create a wall in the crawlspace to support the floor above.  Trying to get it to be studs only, no drywall or other material.  16" CC to align with joists

So far only able to get wall with layers on it.

tried to copy and created new wall, removed drywall layers. still shows solid wall in 3d
