I wanted you to help me learn how to do it myself, not simply do it for me.
Thanks.

Nice!
I notice that the wall on the left (looking from the inside) extends further into the room. Would you explain why and also how you created the roofline?
Thanks!

Thanks for your encouragement.
I haven’t used the program in the better part of two years, so the relearning curve is a little steep. I’m only getting a few minutes here and there to work on it. Trying to refamiliarize myself with the tools.
I don’t want to be too much of a pest…

There is no porch there.

Yes, I was able to open the file you sent but am not able to edit it. Thanks, Gary!
I can't justify the cost of HDP, unfortunately. I'll to play around some different options, I guess.
Thanks again!

Yes, Gary, that is what I'm after! Thanks!
The other thing that may make this more complicated is the roofline. Looking from the outside, I want the ridge centered (on the middle of the house) and for the wall on the right to be shorter.

Thanks for both of your replies.
How do I then build a roof on the addition without affecting the rest of the house?
-
When I select the room/addition I've added and try to add a floor, the dialogue thinks I'm building a 3rd floor?
-
Never mind. Sorry. Not enough coffee yet this morning.
So if a a second (half) floor is added, will the pgm still think there's an attic? Or will it consider the very small amount of space above the ceiling/beneath the ridge an attic?
-
Did the files I attached not post?
-
It's a story and a half. I've been assuming that the upper level would be considered attic. Not so?
Thanks again!

Went in and checked 'auto-rebuild roofs and everything went haywire. I've attached the file and a screen shot that has an approximation of what it should look like. It's the roof pitch on the right of the structure where I'm wanting to raise the pitch.

Thanks so much for your response and suggestions. I've added the version info to my signature and turned it on.
I use the help system extensively and searched knowledge base, forum, and internet.
I have done as you say, to change the pitch on the two bearing walls, but it won't take. It just remains at 9/12.

I'm designing an addition to a rectangular house which currently has full 9/12 gables on the N & S ends. The addition will be on the E side and will also have a full gable end, but I need that to have a steeper pitch, probably 12/12. The roof planes are rendering correctly, but I can't change the pitch of that east gable. I've tried setting the pitch to both 9 & 12 using both the Default settings and the Build Roof tool, then attempted to change the pitch of individual walls. When I do that, the pitch field is inoperable but displays the word "Vertical" and the wrench icon.
I know I must be missing something, but I'm stuck. Thanks!
