Tip: Attaching a simple plan with a cabinet that demonstrates the problem would help others help you.

Mentioning that you have already sent to support would be nice too.

    Solver,

I have been using Home Designer Pro since 2012 and am an advanced user. I wasn't looking for help with building cabinets and the issue is not related to a specific plan. I really just wanted someone with HD Pro 2023 to try and reproduce this issue using my cookbook instructions. You have not even tried to help in this respect. I attached the pertinent images of the issue if you had looked at them. I have since discovered that this issue only happens when you make changes using the "Door Face Item Specification" dialog box, and only on Framed Box Construction with Traditional Overlay. Please don't bother to reply to this thread anymore unless you are willing to try and reproduce this issue. Your signature doesn't show you even have a current version of the software.

    Sincerely,

  2. I am having an issue with cabinets in HD Pro 2023.

Let's start by creating a base cabinet with a drawer at the top and a door underneath.

    * The style for cabinet is Standard and the Box construction is Framed with Separation of 1-1/4" and Traditional Overlay with Overlap of 1/2"

    * The horizontal Separations are all set to 1-1/4" to provide a 1/4" gap

    * At this point, if the door is set to be open in 3D view the overlay appears to be 1/2"

    * Now let's open the cabinet Specification dialog box and select the Front panel and then select the the drawer in the Face Items

    * Now click the Specify button by Appliance/Door/Drawer and in the resulting dialog box under Drawer Handle/ Style: select None

    * This causes the drawer become smaller; basically the 1/2" overlay has disappeared and the drawer face is the same size as the opening!

I believe this started happening with HD Pro 2022, but I didn't notice it until I started a project with HD Pro 2023.

Has anyone else seen this issue and is it a bug or am I experiencing something strange on my system?

  3. Thanks for your reply.

The "Custom Backsplash" tool creates a polygon and uses the polygon control settings. I find it easier to use the "Soffit" tool as it uses Size/Position control settings which make it easier to size and place accurately. Soffits can also be replicated using the "Transform/Replicate Object" dialog making it easy to copy and place on other walls.

I was just wondering if I missed something in the 2023 upgrade. It seems like this would be something used frequently when rendering house plans. You can "Auto Place" corner boards, but not soffit trim or brick frieze!

  4. I figured it out!

In the Default Settings under Cabinets>General Cabinet Defaults, if the "Show Closed Doors/Drawers in Plan View" is unchecked, then the Cabinet, Doors & Drawers" will not display. If it is checked, they display properly.

  5. I have a plan  that will not display "Cabinet, Drawers & Doors" in Plan View even though it is checked in the Layer Display Options. This is specific to this plan. They show correctly in other plans. I'm at a loss of why this is happening. I have tried everything I can think of to get them to show.

This is a plan created in HD Pro 2019 and then opened and saved in HD Pro 2020.

  6. Success! Through experimentation I was able to create the new 3D symbol with the correct orientation of the 2D CAD Block. I first created a new plan in Home Designer Pro 2018 with four exterior walls only. I then created the new 3D symbol in this plan. Voila, the orientation of both the 3D symbol and the 2D CAD Block were the same. Once this was accomplished, the symbol and CAD Block orientation were correct when placed in the existing plan where I had originally tried to create the new 3D symbol. I'm not sure why I was unable to create the new 3D symbol in the existing plan. The plan had been rotated 180 degrees and maybe that had something to do with why the 2D CAD Block orientation was off by 180 degrees.

  7. 1) Please take a minute and fill out your signature -- see below. Knowing what software you are using is often key to providing a suggestion. Having it in your sig makes it always available in a standard location.

    2) Start a new plan. 4 walls, one room. Do you still have the problem?

    3) Posting the plan file helps.

It helps if we know what title (Suite, Pro etc) and version (2014, 2015 etc) you are using. You can add this info to your signature by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click My Settings, then Signature on the left.

This seems to be a new phenomenon in HD Pro 2017.

Already tried your suggestion with new, simple, 4 walls, plan. The result is always 6/12 pitch no matter what I set in the specifications.

I guess I will have to contact tech support.

  8. Hello all,

Home Designer Pro User since ver. 2012.

Using Home Designer Pro 2017, Build 18.3.1.2x64

    Windows 10, Anniversary Update

    Intermediate Skill Level.

When I build a roof using the Build Roof Dialog Box, no matter what pitch I enter, the roof is built to 6/12.

I had not noticed this before on earlier versions.

I have to manually go through each roof plane and change it to the pitch I want.

I have read the manual again, checked the Forum for answers with no solutions found.

Anyone else experiencing this issue, or am I alone on this.
