  1. How do you create a saltbox roof on a single story structure.

I guess I should be asking, can you have a structure with different height exterior walls

as these would be needed also with the shed design I'm trying to create.

Please, if you know how to do this I would appreciate your time.

    Thanks

  2. I'm trying to figure out how to create a 28 x 48 garage with a 12' wide stall with 12' ceiling and remainder with 10' ceilings.

The area above the 10' ceiling are to be a room above. I also want the exterior wall height to be 14' with the top plate level all around. Then I will have an 8:12 pitch roof.

How do I get the ceiling joist to 12 and the second floor joists at different levels?

  3. How doe I extend a three window bar out over a foundation?

This is three double hung windows, one each on each wall extended out over the foundation

like they did in the 1900's to 1920 home designs.

  4. I need a second floor over the new building.

I also need 10' ceiling in the new building on the first floor and 8' on the second.

I wanted to keep the 8:12 pitch on the front roof that matches the original garage.

  5. OK, so some fudge factor is needed.

So, I can now ask more technical questions on what I am trying to accomplish.

If you notice the new garage to the left, this will have a second floor gable with the ridge running horizontal.

The current roof, and one I want to keep, a bale roof with the ridge running vertical.

My question is how I do I produce two different roofs, on each room?

  6. I am building a garage add-on to my existing garage. I will be building with a second floor.

One of the second floor gable exterior walls will be sharing the external wall of the old garage.

The new garage is 2x6 and the old is 2x4. I'm going to have a lot of questions but my first

is how do I merger the two different wall types.

  7. How big (footprint)? What about ceiling height? What will you use the space for? Will it need garage doors?

Im planning on shooting for 40x40 added to existing 20x22.

The ceiling as high as possible without looking industrial.

I will be using the new area for restoration and servicing of my autos.

I'm hoping to have a second floor that I can put my woodworking tools in.

Realizing this may take same structural steel to carry the weight of the tools

    and materials.

I really like the concepts you put together.

  8. Garage.tiff

OK, it was suggested that I ask questions in an effort to make some progress trying to learn the application.

I have a screen shot which shows my plot and the existing garage.

I am trying to understand how garage foundation, footings and slab work.

My current garage has a floor that is below to stem wall with the slab pitching towards the doors.

How do I create this with the settings?
