Dave, But how do you set different ceiling heights for the front and back wall? Am I missing something?
-
How do you create a saltbox roof on a single story structure. I guess I should be asking, can you have a structure with different height exterior walls as these would be needed also with the shed design I'm trying to create. Please, if you know how to do this I would appreciate your time. Thanks

Sorry to say, yes. I was not allowed to build what I wanted by town per say. Rethinking it now.

I don't want walls inside. It is a 12'wide stall with a 12'ceiling for a lift. I want the remainder to be a 10' ceiling which is why I wan't two separate areas.DRAWING.pdf

I'm trying to figure out how to create a 28 x 48 garage with a 12' wide stall with 12' ceiling and remainder with 10' ceilings. The area above the 10' ceiling are to be a room above. I also want the exterior wall height to be 14' with the top plate level all around. Then I will have an 8:12 pitch roof. How do I get the ceiling joist to 12 and the second floor joists at different levels? DRAWING.pdf

How doe I extend a three window bar out over a foundation? This is three double hung windows, one each on each wall extended out over the foundation like they did in the 1900's to 1920 home designs.

Is it possible to get the plan you've built? I'd like to see how you achieved this. How big is the room before the slope ceiling begins? Thanks

Thats it.. are the ceilings 10 feet in the new addition? How did you accomplish this?
-
YES! Now, on the second floor ridge. I want a saltbox like roof in the front
-
I need a second floor over the new building. I also need 10' ceiling in the new building on the first floor and 8' on the second. I wanted to keep the 8:12 pitch on the front roof that matches the original garage.

This what I'm trying to do..

OK, so some fudge factor is needed. So, I can now ask more technical questions on what I am trying to accomplish. If you notice the new garage to the left, this will have a second floor gable with the ridge running horizontal. The current roof, and one I want to keep, a bale roof with the ridge running vertical. My question is how I do I produce two different roofs, on each room?

I am building a garage add-on to my existing garage. I will be building with a second floor. One of the second floor gable exterior walls will be sharing the external wall of the old garage. The new garage is 2x6 and the old is 2x4. I'm going to have a lot of questions but my first is how do I merger the two different wall types.

Im planning on shooting for 40x40 added to existing 20x22. The ceiling as high as possible without looking industrial. I will be using the new area for restoration and servicing of my autos. I'm hoping to have a second floor that I can put my woodworking tools in. Realizing this may take same structural steel to carry the weight of the tools and materials. I really like the concepts you put together.

Eric, I never saw them in that way. It makes me rethink things. I really like these. I'll get back to you with more details. Thanks very much for your input.

Eric, Thank you very much for the response. I'm heading over to the other post to see what you posted. Thanks Again

Garage.tiff OK, it was suggested that I ask questions in an effort to make some progress trying to learn the application. I have a screen shot which shows my plot and the existing garage. I am trying to understand how garage foundation, footings and slab work. My current garage has a floor that is below to stem wall with the slab pitching towards the doors. How do I create this with the settings?

to the left when looking at the front. I'm not sure what to do. I want to design something that would mold into the existing. It would be great if I could get some ideas.

These are the current garage

I am giving it another attempt to see if I can grasp on to this application. My reason for trying my hand at this is I have a garage that I want to add on to. This is a picture of the garage as it is to start.

I am using Designer Pro 2015. If you could upload one, that would be great. You may remember my other post regarding trying to learn the application. Thanks for you feed back, I will try to post any questions I have.
