  1. The layout file is 228kb but the pdf of this is 44MB. What do you think is going on here??
  2. Hi Solvers, thanks for your replies. I'm using Home Designer Pro 2018. The problem file is a site plan for a 1 acre block with contours, landscape and house. Sheet size is A2 at 1:200. I convert the plan to layout and then layout to PDF. I spent 2 hours with a commercial printer today who print thousands of plans every year. There system kept crashing when trying to process the file to the printer(s). I'm thinking it might be the various fill and shading options I've used to identify garden beds etc. They're made u of a lot of lines. The refresh rate on the screen when in PDF is incredibly slow. The file is 42MB so no point trying to place it here.
  3. Home Designer Pro - The files this software producers are too large for commercial printers to handle. Even in pdf format several have said their systems can't handle it. Removing items is not an option. Zip file is not an option. Is there someway of reducing the file size without reducing the content?

    PDF Conversion

Hi David I'm using Save as PDF on my iMac (2017 with all latest Safari upgrades and Adobe upgrades current). What is strange is that part of the PDF is legible while some is not as if I'm running out of storage or something. Tried to upload it but this forum only permits 25MB which is not much for a site plan...

    PDF Conversion

Home Designer Pro 2017 When I convert a Layout to PDF the definition is terrible with small letters unreadable and blurry lines etc. I'm using DPI 4000. I need to print to A2 size so I have to use an external printing company. I initially took the Home Designer Pro files but they couldn't read the format and told me to convert to PDF. The PDF result of far from acceptable. Appreciate any guidance please.

    2D Plants

Home Designer Pro 2018 It seems there are only 2 different 2D symbols for plants. They are sized differently for different species. For planning approval I need to provide a complete vegetation map (plan view) and there at least 10 different species I need to represent. Any ideas please?
  7. Here's another screen shot. The rectangle is a elevation region but the program creates these random bumps.
  8. HI David, Thanks fro your reply. Have changed from points to lines. It still generates, for example, random little hills that should not be there. I've attached a screenshot. You can see where the green generated contours deviate from the elevation lines I have drawn and then in the middle insert all this totally random stuff.
  9. Home Designer Pro 2018 I've read all that I can find on the topic of contour generation but nothing has helped with my problem. I entered specific elevation points (lots of them covering the full 4000m2 of the block. When I hit Build Terrain it does not follow the specific points I have entered. It creates some super weird random little hills and other anomalies. So I converted the elevation points to elevation lines. The contours generated follow a little closer but still make up stuff that is not even in keeping with likely flow of the land. It's as if the algorithm has a major bug in it. Is there a way to switch off the terrain generator thinking too much? My contours are at 1m intervals and I just want it to follow exactly what I have entered besides smoothing out the lines. I have switched off the secondary contours. Any help greatly appreciated.
