Moldings and Soffits not working correctly on interior walls
ChiefUserJenni47 replied to ChiefUserJenni47's topic in Q&A
rfcomm2k, this method worked perfectly for me everywhere except where I have a straight half wall. I have tried a few different methods and nothing seems to work the way I want it to. When I have the walls built the way I want them I try to use a soffit and the soffit doesn't attach to the walls with the molding correctly. When I have the soffit placed and try to build the straight half-wall under it the same thing happens to the half-wall. One or the other works, but not both and its making me a little crazy! crosscutter55, thank you! I was using the wrong measurement for the cabinets. Those are fixed now. I was using the rough ceiling height and not the finished ceiling height for that. Thanks again to all for the help and suggestions! -
I am having an issue with getting soffits and moldings to work correctly in my model. It seems that the interior walls in the house that are not connected to the exterior walls will not have any moldings on them and I don't know how to fix this issue. I want them to be connected with a 9" soffit where the walls are not currently connected. When I place the soffit it adhere to only a part of a wall, but is malfunctioning in the kitchen and front room area. I have not turned moldings off in any of the rooms. Please let me know if there is any way to fix this issue. I am using Home Designer Professional 2018. Thank you, Jenni

Okay I used soffits to create the frame, but I am having a very difficult time aligning all of the objects. I tried creating the soffits around the partition, but it would move the partition when I tried to move the soffits into place. Then I deleted the partition and created the soffits, they all lined up and then when I create my partition I cant get it to align with the soffits. It's like they wont interfere with each other or something like that. Thank you! Jenni

Is there a way to create a frame on a partition that would match the frame on the enclosure? There is an example in one of the tutorials that says it uses a partition around the shower seat and it seems to have a frame, but no information on how to create the frame. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be very grateful. I am using Home Designer Professional 2018! Thank you! Jenni

Exterior wall troubles for Porch and Roof
ChiefUserJenni47 replied to ChiefUserJenni47's topic in Q&A
Thank you for all of your responses! I am using Home Designer Professional 2018. Attached are images of me attempting to build the porch. The first image shows what happens when I create a deck with straight deck railing and then convert into porch. It creates a very strange roof like structure will walls that I don't want. I also don't want the railing, I want columns, but when I turn the railing off it turns them into walls. Again this was all based on the tutorial I was watching. Then I manually create my own roof and I still have issues with the corner right corner. I think it has something to do with the interior and exterior walls creating an empty space? I also unsure how to manually create a gable roof on the part of the roof over the door. I tried the break wall tool, but that did work, and I also tried the Gable/Roof Line. Thanks again for all of your suggestions and help. -
I have been using Home Designer Pro for a little less than a month. Experience with SketchUp Pro (4 months) and Autodesk MAYA (5 years). I am trying to create a porch on the front of my house. I have constructed my walls based on the CAD given to me. Some of the interior walls seem to be impacting the exterior walls and roofs in a way that is making it impossible to create the porch roof the way that I want. I am wondering what I am doing wrong and if anyone has any suggestions for me. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/videos/watch/10138/home-designer-quick-start.html?playlist=200 is the tutorial I was using to attempt to create the Porch (1:01:35 mark). When I attempt to create the porch this way it creates some very strange geometry for me on the second floor. The main issue is in the right corner of the would be porch. Please help! Thank you!
