Need help creating an opening through deck surface in Home Designer Pro 2021

Good morning,

 

I'm a new a fairly new user of Home Designer Pro 2021, which I use mainly use for deck design and technical drawings to acquire building permits.

 

The problem: I have a customer who'd like us to create an opening in his new deck for an existing shade tree. I was able to accomplish the task by using the polygon shaped deck tool, creating an octagon shaped deck on top of the main deck, and then dropping the octagon deck structure -24" below the surface of the main deck. That worked until a few changes were made in other areas of the deck and now the opening is no longer visible even though the framing view still shows the opening to be there. I'm sure this was the wrong approach to accomplish this but I've searched everywhere for the correct way to create openings through decks and haven't been able to find anything. Any help here would be appreciated.
