Using the Full Overview

generally it means you have a "lost" object a long way from the house ,way out past the Terrain  (if you have it modelled) , try using the fill window button and look out along the edges of the view, it could be something small and / or as simple as a CAD line ,if you can't find it post the plan and i'll take a look tomorrow.

its a good idea to add your HD software title and version (year) to your signature as some answers depend on the version and what "tools" you have.

When you are learning the software it is easy to accidently draw a small segment of a wall (that is the usual culprit) a long distance from where your structure is located. The overview camera is programmed to included all objects that are drawn in plan view no matter whether accidental or not, thus in order to do so, the camera viewpoint is such that one is seemingly viewing from outer space/

Find and eliminate the accidental object and by doing so that is the only thing that will return expected function,

  • 8 months later...

the fill window  icon view  ( or F6) worked for me ,  WAY OUT on the left hand side , opposite the house , you have a lost staircase, delete it  and hit F6 again to fill the window with just the house hopefully.

edit: you wont see a staircase till you zoom in on it,  it will just be a tiny blue mark/line on the very edge of the screen/window.
