Locating Newels/Posts on Railing

Is it possible? I like using the rail wall type since it places posts and rail sections automatically; however, the only part lacking is the inability to locate posts in floorplan view or elevation view. Is there a solution for this or am I just going to have to bite the bullet and start placing posts/columns manually?

You cannot simply locate the post, but you can work with the software to many times get them where you want.

 

You can change the spacing.

 

Try using wall breaks. Draw a section of railing, break it and immediately reverse the layers of one section. This reversing keeps the walls from rejoining.
