Open area in wall

Hi all. Trying to replicate the wall in the attached image. Have used both a half wall and a regular full wall though when I abut them it creates a weird angle and assigns a different room to the area where the full wall is (image attached). Am using a shape for the top portion. Is there a better way to go about this? Cheers.

Thanks Eric. Yes, HD had created an invisible wall (I certainly didn't input it) for some reason. Deleted it and the problem resolved. Still wondering if my method (using a half wall, full wall and shape) was the best way to go about replicating the wall?

Cheers.

None of the Chief Architect/Home Designer products handle that situation. You need a workaround, and yours is one of several that can be used.

You mentioned using a shape for the upper part, and I would recommend a soffit as David suggested. Soffits come in with the default drywall (wall) color, and will accept moldings.

Here are 2 threads I posted on over at ChiefTalk. Both contain info you might find helpful.
