How do I change a part of a build from two story to one?

I have a very large garage that will have an apartment over a small part of it. The entire garage is now two story and I only want the apartment area to be two stories. Any suggestions, please?

Can I remove the second floor that already exists where it is not needed? I'd hate to have to delete the entire 2nd floor over the entire structure in order to redo it just to fix this one mistake.

Never mind. lol  Deleting the second floor walls where they aren't needed did the trick.  Thanks!
