  1. Good morning everyone

I need help in showing wall framing detail.

I want to show the following:

The framing detail showing the metal studs, metal tracks and 2 x 4 PT wood on floor with 2 x 4 brace supports - - The tracks are 16 OC and the 2 x 4 brace supports between the metal studs

Here are the steps that I follow to try and show the wall framing detail.

    1. Select 3D Orthographic View

    2. Create cross section elevation  - point camera to the wall I want to show

    3. I delete all of the display options and turn on framing details only

    Question:

    1) How do I show the framing supports that are wood between the metal studs

    2) How do I bring up the bottom of the new wall to show that it is sitting 5 inches above the bottom ground garage floor?

    3) How do I show that I have a 2x4 wood on the bottom floor with the metal track on top?

I have attached a copy of the file, and two pics to show you my drawing detail..

Thanks for help in pointing me in the right direction.

  2. Thanks...sounds very straight forward

    a few questions

    1. where is the isometric camera located?

    2. what is the control key - drag method?

    3. why do some items show up in 3D view when trying to place in location.. but others do not?  However, I see them when I am in floor plan view..

    Thanks

  3. I am having difficulty placing objects on a shelf in a closet.  I want to have the shoes on the shelves to show how many shoes can be placed on a shelf.  I have the shelves slanted.

Some shoes allow me to put them on the shelves but they look like they are floating instead of sitting on the shelf

Question:  Is this because of the tilt of the shoe shelf?

Question: Is there a special tool that I must use to make this happen?

    Thanks for the feedback

p.s. This is my first time putting objects in a closet. I have no issues with furniture or in a kitchen.  There must be something that I am missing..

  4. Hi Guys

I am trying embark on creating a floating ceiling in a plan.  I know that it is possible.. I used the soffit tool - Yay.. Made the ceiling...

Question 1: How do I create a rope light effect up top - like in pictures below - and have light illuminating that is non white - say RGB..

Question 2:  I have used the soffit tool for regular rectangles - How do I create one that is not a rectangular shape?  Note:  I thought that I would just use the circles in the cad tools but that does not seem to be the case for it to show in the design...

Question 3:  Is it possible to show a ceiling like in the kitchen picture below? This creates a nice illumination of drama in  a kitchen.

Thanks in advance for your help in pointing me in the right direction...

  5. David

Thanks for trying this out in CA...

I wish that the HDPro 2020 was a little easier to navigate...

It took me 5 minutes in CA11 to make the pic work.

It me over an hour of trying to make it work in HDPro 2020

This is not the first time that I have learned how to do something in HDPro after tinkering with the trial version of CA11 first.

I am ever so thankful that the company gives us this opportunity to play around with the trial version...

Now... If they could just figure out away to give the HDPro  more user friendly ...I would be ecstatic..

    I would be ecstatic..

Thanks again for all of your help...

  6. GREAT NEWS.... I LOVE CHIEF ARCHITECT BECAUSE IT AUTOMATICALLY DOES THINGS THAT HDPRO DOES NOT DO.

THE FILE WORKS IN HDPRO 2020 BUT YOU MUST CHECK CONSTRAIN THE MEASUREMENTS...

THIS IS AUTOMATIC IN CHIEF ARCHITECT ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER GREAT FEATURES..

    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP..

OMG..  I LOVE THIS IMAGE AND WANT TO USE IT IN MY PROJECT..

I JUST HAD TO TRY CA 11 BEFORE I GAVE UP...

I LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING THE FULL VERSION ONE DAY.. HOPEFULLY THIS YEAR..

I AM THANKFUL FOR MY LITTLE HDPRO 2020.. IT IS A LITTLE POWERHOUSE THAT KEEPS ON GIVING ME SURPRISES WITH THE NEW VERSION.. :)

  7. DAVID

    THIS JUST IN..

THE FILE OPENS IN CA10 - I TOOK A LONG  SHOT AND TRIED IT..

I HAVE THE TRIAL VERSION - JUST TO SEE IF IT WORKED

I WONDER WHY IT WILL NOT OPEN IN HDPRO - I KNOW THAT I HAVE USED DWG FILES FROM THE 3D WAREHOUSE

I GUESS THAT IS ANOTHER REASON WHY CA IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN HDPRO..   CA11 CAN OPEN DWG FILES ALWAYS AND HDPRO 2020 ONLY SOMETIMES...

ANOTHER GREAT SELLING FEATURE FOR CA 11 PREMIER AND INTERIORS

    • THANKS DAVID... I WAS AFRAID OF THAT... AT LEAST I KNOW THAT IT WAS NOT ME BUT RATHER THE IMAGE FILE ITSELF...
    • WHEN I SAW THE BUILDING SIZE IMAGE.., I WAS WONDERING WHAT I WAS DOING WRONG TO THE FILE...
    • I SINCERELY APPRECIATE YOU TRYING TO OPEN THE FILE..

  8. Hi guys

I have a ,dwg file from a mfr of a piece of furniture that I want to use in my plan

I tried importing it and it worked - yay.. but it is massive.. totally crazy..

I tried with the file both ways

    1) as a 3d file

    2) with file assistant wizard...

Question:  Are there certain types of files that cant be used in HDPRO 2020 even through they are .dwg files - 2D and 3D versions..

I included the 2d  and 3Dversion of the file to see if this is doable in HDPRO 2020

Note: I have used files from 3D warehouse before with no problems..

This one is from the mfr.. so that it can be used in designs

    Thanks for your feedback.

There may be something that I need to do to the file in a setting..

    Thanks again.

  9. HI GUYS

I AM LOOKING TO SHOW A WALL CORNER CABINET THAT IS KNOWN AS AN EASY REACH CABINET.  I DONT SEE ANY OPTIONS LIKE THIS.. IS THERE SOME WAY THAT I CAN ADJUST THE CABINET TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THIS.  I TRIED LOOKING FOR ONE TO BRING IN TO THE PROGRAM BUT I WOULD PREFER TO HAVE IT IN THE DSOFTWARE SO THAT I CAN SHOW THAT IT IS OPEN. BETTER VISUAL PERSPECTIVE,

PLEASE FORGIVE ME IF THIS SEEMS TRIVIAL.. I PLAYED WITH ALL THE CABINET TYPES AND THEIR DOOR SETTING AND COULD NOT FIND THIS.

I ENJOY USING THIS ACCORDIAN TYPE WALL CABINET IN KITCHENS.. IT LOOKS MORE MODERN THAN THE TRADITIONAL WALL CORNER CABINET

THE ANGLED CABINET DOES NOT REALLY GIVE ME WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR...

I AM THINKING THAT THERE SHOULF BE A WAY TO TINKER WITH THE DIMENSIONS ON HDPRO 2020 TO ACHIEVE THIS,, I JUST DO NOT KNOW WHERE

THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW IF THIS IS POSSIBLE

    THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK

  10. Update:

    JON

Thanks Jon.. I have replicated your camera view in the plan that you sent..  It took awhile to figure where all  the settings were but I found open object and then mirrored your settings.

    It looks awesome..

I am still working on the grid for the cad boxes..  I am learning by trial and error.. Your plan is so helpful.. so thanks for this tool..

I am so thankful for the support from the Forum... I look forward to paying it forward and contributing to others with the new found knowledge.

  12. Hi guys

i am looking for a way to use decora switches and outlets in my plans instead of the basic ones included. I only use decora outlets on my

actual jobs. It would be nice to reflect that in my 3D drawing

i have searched high and low

i found something from Leviton but it is the cover for the switch or outlet

i imported this to the plan and it only shows it on the floor

there is always a conflict when I try to put it in the backsplash

here is a picture of a decora outlet

    just an fyi

    thx for the feedback

  13. Hi Guys

I just wanted to share that I found this in Home Designer Pro 2020

It is AWESOME - UNDER CABINET LIGHTING - YAY!!

    IT IS  FOUND IN ARCHITECTURAL

      LIGHTING

      CABINET

THEY HAVE PUCK - TWO TYPES

AND THREE TYPES IN ADDITION TO THE PUCK LIGHTS

THE TUBE ARE VERY LOW PROFILE AND LOOK IDENTICAL TO THE ONES THAT I PURCHASE SOMETIMES

I TOOK A PICTURE  FOR YOU TO SEE - - PLEASE FORGIVE THE LOW REZ QUALITY - IT IS JUST FOR A VISUAL

I AM SO HAPPY THAT I FOUND THIS FEATURE EXISTS..  I JUST HAD TO SHARE WITH EVERYONE...

    ENJOY!!!
