  1. Thanks Eric,

When I auto build I cant seem to get this pitch/height without the roof disconnecting from the main roof.

Probably very simple, yet I cant seem to get my head around it.

Thanks very much for any help you can offer.

  2. Hi all, hoping someone could please point me in the right direction as how I can accomplish this roof.

Unfortunately, these are the only images I have to work from, so some guess work is required with pitches etc.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

  3. Thanks Eric, I was wondering if this was the case!  Just asking in case I had missed a tool in how to do it with automatic roofs.

    Thanks for the reply

  4. Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone could please help me with this roof.  The ceiling heights for the home are 3500mm, and the front section is 2400mm.

I have tried various paths to achieve the roof but I am having trouble with the gull wing style roof, as it is an enclosed veranda.  Every time I try to enclose the veranda the roof sections wont join.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance

  5. Hi Everyone,

I have a very simple plan that for some reason I am struggling with!!

My ceiling height is 3000mm ( sorry metric here!)  and the veranda roof starts at 3000mm and is 2400 at its lowest point.  I would like a gullwing style roof, but I've checked the tutorials and they only seem to specify a gullwing with a gable end.  I need a hip roof all the way around.

I have tried a few things but cant seem to get it correct as despite my best efforts I'm not completely understanding baselines etc.  Could some kindly give me a lesson on how to achieve this roof.

    Many thanks in advance!

  6. Hi everyone,

I have a strange question as this has not happened to me before....

I'm trying to upload a file on here for some help but it keeps telling me the file is too large??  It's literally 4 walls and a porch.  No windows/doors/terrain nothing!!

    Something odd is happening!

    Hopefully someone can please help.

    Many thanks

    Andrea,

This software is great but never has been, nor will be "Perfect" in terms of always creating perfection. Straightening out Wall Polylines is just part of the job of using this software. I consider being able to directly manipulate wall polylines in an elevation camera view sufficient as a fix. "Easy", is the designation of a competent, experienced user which you will become as long as you persist in using it. I have been a user/teacher for 27  years so to me it all seems "easy" not to say that some of its shortcomings are not sometimes annoying, this is not one of them to me.

    Thank you David,

Could you kindly advise me on how to straighten the wall polylines?  I have tried to manipulated the wall but of course this causes issues inside!

I absolutely love everything I have learnt thus far using the program, it seems sometimes I just get 'stuck' and its wonderful having some guidance from you in times like these!

    Thanks again!

Switch to Vector View and take a couple more screen captures. Vector View almost always works best for images to be posted here -- makes it much easier to see problems like this.

    Thanks Eric,

I have posted the vector view.

    Thanks again

  9. Hi everyone,

Hoping there is a simple solution to my issue.  This seems to happen when I have gable roof...if I drag out one of the walls the issue goes away.....

Hoping there is an easy fix to this frustrating issue!!

    Many thanks in advance.

  10. Hi everyone,

I'm hoping there is a simple solution to my current issue!

When I export an image (JPEG) of my interior render, the quality is quite poor!  On my screen in home designer the image is sharp and clean.

Could someone please advise if this is normal or is there anything I can do to improve the export?  I've tried to up the resolution but it seem to make no difference!

This is an example.  It looks 10 fold better in home designer before I export.

    Many thanks in advance!

  11. Jo-ann,

Thank you so very much, your help is greatly appreciated!!!!!  My brain is bleeding!!  I think I'm starting to wrap my head around it.  It seems so simple yet I just could not figure it out.

    Thanks again!

  12. Thanks for the reply Jo-ann,

I guess I'm just having a hard time reading the plan!  I can build the roofs correctly for the most part, it's just the center of the home that I can get right no matter what I try!

Ah I will just keep trying.

    Thanks

  13. Thank you David, I’ve watched them and for some reason I just don’t get it.  I’m going to try again in the morning to see how I get along. I agree , the learning process is hard yet but very fulfilling, hence the reason I really truly want to get it right!!! Sometimes it’s so very frustrating and getting  a little helping hand can further my knowledge so much, although sometimes I find I’m just plain stuck!  I’ve been at my desktop for 8 hours straight trying to figure it out. All for a small interior render lol.  Can’t rest until I know it’s correct. Thanks for the input, and have a great weekend!  Unless you want to spend it helping me! Haha

  14. I've tried and just end up making a huge mess.  I can almost get it correct but then the interior walls are all messed up.  I'm a bit lost to be honest!

  15. Hi everyone,

I'm needing a little help please if someone would be kind enough.

I'm really struggling with the roof line at the front of the home.  I have been trying to fix this for ages now and I'm just stuck!  I've tried everything I know (very much still learning!)  and I just cant seem to get it right.  Once I have it correct I will use the manual roof tools for the front entry. I have attached my file as well as my plans so you can see what I mean.  I would greatly appreciate some help please.

    Many thanks in advance!

  16. Thank you for your replies.

I have watched the video and I still cant work out how to break the lower part of the stair to extend to the wall.  When I do attempt it, the whole staircase goes out of wack.

I have managed to use the interior wall tool to place a wall on the outside of the staircase.

Sorry for my ignorance, I just cannot seem to figure this out.

    thanks again

  17. Hi everyone,

I'm after a little help with my stairs please.

I have attached a picture of what I am after.  I cannot seem to extend the lower stair section to butt against the wall.  Also the stairs should not extend to the back wall with the window on it.

I'm a fairly new user, so any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
