Never mind!  I found it- quite by accident - there is a very discrete horizontal bar with miniature arrows that must have been pushed all the way down, even when the 2 bottom, "windows division" buttons were pushed, and so I only was able to see the outline versions !

Don't know what I did -- after working for 4 days, with no problems -- but the objects in the Library

Browser are now only in standard display.

Went to Preferences already, tried to Rest Options. no change.

Pressing either Standard display or Vector display, there is  no difference- I only get the B& W outline drawings. 

All the textures and colors are visible, but display differently now.

Any ideas how to fix this without resorting to re-installing?
