  1. Hello. I'm Using Home Designer Pro 2019.

I'm trying to build a two storey extension to a house. (Please see attached photo of a cross section sent by an architect.)

The terrain is sloping, and Ive created a flat area and built the pool. Now, I'm not able to build the lower floor at a level *Below* the terrain level. The first floor has to be at the level of the deck area.

I've attached a pic of the work I've done so far, and another where I want the extension structure to come. Can someone please help me figure out how to lower the terrain such that I can build the structure. I'vve tried lowering the ground, adding new elevation regions, nothing is working... its only creating bigger messes for the larger plot, and the already built structure.

Would appreciate any and all suggestions as to how to excavate that bit of terrain without it messing up the rest of the landscape

(and please ignore the obvious errors in the main building- yet to complete work on it!)

  2. I'm facing the same problem with HD Pro 19! The video which David Potter refers to above, uses an older version, and in any case, my reflections are still not showing up despite following all instructions to the T. I've also adjusted mirror properties to be shiny and bright, but that doesn't work either. Need help ASAP!

  3. Hi,

I'm using HD Pro 2019, and off-late I'm seeing that mirror reflections aren't showing up in my renderings. Reflections are toggled on, as are shadows and textures, but no-show. I've also adjusted the material properties to be Shiny and Bright, but that hasn't helped either. The Camera Default settings also have Reflections turned on. All I see is a flat grey surface. Could there be some other setting I'm unaware of, that's preventing these reflections?

Would appreciate any help re this!

    Thank you.

  4. Thank you Jo Ann. I thought of this, but it's so not an intuitive way to work. I'm finding HD not up-to-date at all in terms of new trends and it's really silly to have to find workarounds for what should be basic!

  5. Is there any way in HD Pro19 to change the frame size for a glass cabinet door? The existing frame door is just too thick for my needs. I would like my door frame to look something like the image below. Thanks!

  6. HD PRO 2019 (MAC)

    Hi,

I need to copy items from an older plan, to a newer modified plan, but can't seem to do so. Are there any workarounds for this, please? I've tried holding the Command button down, etc, but it doesn't move the item between plans (open in two tabbed windows).

Much obliged if someone could help urgently!

    Thank you!

  7. Hi,

I need to design a set of wardrobes with sliding doors, and I'm not seeing anything in the cabinet toolbar that's allowing me this. I also want to add different materials to the door face. I've attached some pictures showing the kind of wardrobe, and design on the doors I need. I'd be really grateful if someone could talk me through this!!

    Thank you.

  8. Thanks for your very prompt and succinct solutions to each of my silly questions, David! Your suggestion of checking my Display Options worked, and the elevation view showed up finally.

However, the first part of my question still has me stumped, and I just haven't been able to find an answer. I need to show the client working drawings (or as close as I can get to them) of the interior layouts, for which I need cross-section elevation drawings. I've attached an example (not mine) to give you an idea. I know there is an option for this in HDPro, which I don't own just now, but I'm still hoping if I can do something like this in Suite for the moment. I will have to rent Pro when the project gets off the drawing board, but I don't want to spend so much for the initial stages. Waiting, with fingers crossed!

    Have a good day,
    Niv

  9. Hi,
I'm trying to design an interior wall with panelling in the foyer of an apartment I'm designing, so I need to see it in cross-section elevation to decide proportions etc. I'm guessing this doesn't exist for HD Suite, but is there any sort of workaround that I can do to get an elevation working drawing that I can give to my builder? I just want a 2D drawing with dimensions, not a 3D one with materials, which is what I'm getting with HD Suite.
Also, I've placed a console table and mirror in the space already. However, when I try to view it with Elevation Camera, I'm just seeing a blank wall, and none of the objects in it- essentially, a blank space. I've gone through the forum, and there seems to be a similar problem addressed but for HD Pro. The funny thing is, the elevation camera seems to work just fine in other rooms, but not in this one area. Could someone help me out with the solution for Suite 2019, please?

    Thank you!

  10. Thank you very much, David, for that prompt reply, and a possible solution!
However, I sort of worked around my problem in the interim, by adding floor to ceiling fixed-glass windows as i need to enclose the whole balcony. I'm hoping my client won't miss seeing the railings too much in the initial renders!

My new problem though, is adding turf, decking and pebbles to the balcony, as landscaping. I've enclosed a picture of approximately what I need to do, and I'll be super obliged if you'd guide me through that process!
    Thanks again!

  11. Hi everyone,
I'm a beginner on HDSuite 2018 for Mac.
I'm working on the interiors for an apartment (which don't seem to covered in Home Designer at all!). Most pf the tutorials seem to be for individual houses, so I'm really winging it!
I need to build a balcony, with the railings on 3 sides. The 3 walls rise around 6" from the floor, with the railings ON TOP of the masonry. I have no idea how to do this, because every time I add a railing on top of a half-wall, it replaces the wall entirely.
I ALSO need to enclose this balcony completely on all sides with glass panels, rising from the wall in front of the railings up to the ceiling.
I'm totally flummoxed and need help, have to finish this ASAP as it's holding up everything else. I've read and re-read all the tutorials I can find to no use.

    Thanks!

  12. Hi all, I'm a newbie working on HDSuite 2018 for Mac and learning on the run.
I've looked everywhere, but can't seem to find a way to group or lock several objects, like one does in Photoshop or other software. HDS doesn't seem to have a layer function either. Is there a workaround for this? I've sort of created a new object (room divider) using an imported SketchUp model, and cabinet partitions from HDS. The problem is if I want to resize or move the whole thing, pieces get left behind even after carefully selecting them, and it's turning out to be a right pain! Could anyone help me with this? Thank you!
